IOT Based fault detection system can detect the fault in transmission line using PIC 18f452 and will find the location of the fault by calculating the resistance between towers. Also we can see the location of fault on mobile app.
Working and Explanation:
In IoT Based fault detection in Transmission Line, we have used CT’s for sensing of current, if the current is exceeded its means that fault occurs. CT’s are connected in series with the load. Power resistor is used for the reference to calculate the distance in the meter. DC relays are used to connect all phases and neutral the transmission line.
This project is modeled with a set of resistors representing cable length in m and fault creation is made by a set of switches at every known distance. In case of a fault, the voltage across series resistors changes accordingly, which is then fed to an ADC to develop precise digital data to a programmed PIC IC that further displays fault location in distance. The fault type and location are displayed on LCD interfaced with the microcontroller. Wi-Fi module (node MCU) will display the information over the android application.
